Chapter 628, Laws of 1959, placed the former Office of Civil Defense (WIHV86-A1719) within the Executive Office as the Bureau of Civil Defense. In 1967, the Bureau was incorporated into the Department of Local Affairs and Development (WIHV86-A1748) as the Division of Emergency Government (WIHV86-A1722). Chapter 75, Laws of 1967, which reorganized the executive branch of state government in Wisconsin, transferred the Bureau of Civil Defense (see WIHV86-A1718) from the Executive Office to the new Department of Local Affairs and Development (see WIHV86-A1748) where it became the Division of Emergency Government.
